shall surely be put to death

Go, and sin no more.

Understanding the Repealed

Death Penalty

of the Torah (Law)

Exodus 21:16-17 MKJV

(16)  And he that steals a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

(17)  And he that curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

John 8:10-11 YLT

And Jesus having bent himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, `Woman, where are those--thine accusers? did no one pass sentence upon thee?'  (11)  and she said, `No one, Sir;' and Jesus said to her, `Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.'

Death sentence is very common in the Torah even for cursing our parents. Were those death sentences applicable in Israel only or internationally wherever YHWH God was worshiped or Judaism practiced?

MYTHS ABOUT GOD'S WILL

Other religions seek to export their local religion integrated with their punishments

‚Äč

Contrary to what you might have observed in Christiandom or heard or told about Judaism or Christianity, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, the Jews, that is, Jesus the Messiah (Christ), has no intention of establishing any government in the midst of us. He had already failed to govern the Israelites to greatness because, as all the other nations, most of the Israelites did not want God as their King, a God to tell them how to keep the desires of their flesh in check. He had punished the chosen people in all manners, cursed them with blindness, then sent the baptism to lift the blindness so they could at least recognize Him who was compelled to die in our stead. Forget it. Not all of them were disposed to follow His Torah or heed the calls fro His Prophets to repent from behaving contrarily to Moses, or get baptized.

Meanwhile, YHWH God had invited the whole world who would volunteer to join the chosen people in acknowledging Him and putting in practice His Torah or Moses. He even promised the pagan citizens better tidings than the chosen people. He remembered the faith of Father Abraham, upon which He blesses all nations.

Today, Jesus is reaching out to anybody, from the vilest to the most honored, who would want to believe that He is YHWH God who became flesh in order to redeem anyone willing to change their mind and follow Him. Jesus is looking for volunteers to join Him because He knows firsthand how resiliently mankind is flexed into sinning. He knows that there are no possible threats or punishments that can turn the heart of a man to heed His gospel. So, He sent for those He knows will hear Him. That person can be you but you have heard so much nonsense about God that had turned you off. But, Jesus is asking you to take an independent look at the records to see for yourself that we could have had it so good if all men were willing to follow the rules on behavior that Moses recorded in the Torah.

Do not let the capital punishments for the bad behaviors turn you off. They were put in place because the Israelites became a nation. God had not asked the Israelites to whack all the pagan nations on their way to Canaan nor around them after they had been settled. Every other pagan nations had their capital punishment laws. Can you imagine living in a society where anyone can do as they please? Your goodhearted person will not be safe.
